What about me, I am Joke Heesters, I would like to introduce you to my great passion for visual art. I love working with paper mache and other materials, and I can also use all my creativity. In 2004 my interest was piqued when I got my hands on a magazine; 'Making a garden image with textile hardener'. In the beginning I had to get used to working with the glue-like substance, but I soon got the hang of it. The garden image is still in my garden, I could not have imagined that this would have such a big sequel. I had always been creative in my life, but this was something completely different. In everything I do or did I am completely self-taught and I always want to try things out on my own when I am. I want to be able to start right away and not have to learn from books or go on a course first. Usually I work by feeling, and an image gradually develops. I often do not know in advance how I will end a work, the colors also arise automatically. Although I am a 'do-it-yourselfer', I soon discovered that there were many videos on the computer with explanations. It is actually a huge library of text and images. I gained the most knowledge there, and I was also not afraid to ask artists questions. In the years that followed I was regularly asked if I also wanted to work on assignment, and so I dared to. My work is in various places in the Netherlands and Belgium and I am very proud of that. In the meantime I had 2 websites, one with mainly colorful papier-mache images and the other website with textile hardener and clay. I had separated them because I thought they are different too. During my surf trip on the internet I also saw work with mosaic passing by, and I thought that was a lot of fun to do. I was immediately sold again. As you can see in my photo album, I also started making images, partly or entirely with mosaic. I was regularly asked if I wanted to give workshops, but that never happened because of my husband's illness. So I got the idea to put together an online workshop for beginners from both websites. That was a good idea, several have since gone out. In the meantime I have all the materials in house to start over with fimo, so there is always something new and I keep growing and enthusiastic. That is the best thing there is!
